The path to enlightenment awaits...

Hello.

Firstly for those of you who are visiting for the first time, or bypassed my main header page let me introduce myself to you.  My name is Scott Wiggins and I live in Coventry in the United Kingdom.

The objective of this page and those that follow is to give you an introduction into Bushcraft or as it is also sometimes called Primitive or Backwoods skills.  What this site will not do is tell you how to manufacture a nuclear fallout shelter or how to survive invasion with two broken matches and a rusty safety pin.

That aside, what is the subject I am talking about?  Well it covers a wide range of subjects from making fire and shelters to obtaining food and other implements from or with the help of nature.  Think of the Aborigines of Australia or the Pygmy living in their natural environment and you have an idea of what I'm on about.

Most of the information presented here will cover the basics, as the only real way to learn these skills is by trial and error and if possible a teacher of some description.  To be honest without a good teacher you will struggle with some of the finer points.

My History

I first became interested in Bushcraft or Backwoodsmanship as I then knew it when I was a Scout.  I did a camp at the time and gained this badge and it whetted my appetite for more.

Over the years I read what I could saw a few programmes on television and did what I could, when I could.  Then over the last couple of years now I have been working I have attended course with Lofty Wiseman and Ray Mears, possibly the two finest instructors in Survival and Bushcraft respectively in the country.

Anyway, enough waffle from me.  Follow the attached links to see what I am talking about.

If you have any questions or advice you could in turn offer me then please e-mail me from the link below.
