My aim in writing this is to hopefully get some feedback and extra ideas from other Scouters on the net. I will not be including Games on here, just activities. If you have any ideas or better references, then please E-mail me at: Scott@home-cov.demon.co.uk
21st Scouts Spring 1998 ProgrammeNEW
1. Light a fire without using matches e.g. Using a Flint
Preparation will have to be more carefully done. Good for Older Scouts to put the challenge back.
2. Burn through a piece of sisal string set about 30 cm off the ground.
Use two teams and make it a race.
3. Construct a gadget to extinguish a small fire.
The fire itself must activate the gadget. A container and string should be available
1. Give a Patrol 10 Scout staves, set them the task of covering a set distance, by constructing polygons, e.g. square or triangle, each shape can only be used once. One person is allowed out of the shape when the next one is constructed to pick up the used staves.
2. Scouts form a circle. They then hold hands with different people across the circle. This must be 2 different Scouts. The aim of the exercise is that without letting go of anyones hand, you un-tie yourself to form a circle. You can have either your arms crossed, open and behind you.
This was shown to me when I was a Scout by a visiting US Army Soldier.
3. Forming letters and numbers.
Scouts have to form "statues" of numbers, letters etc. either on the floor or upright.
When this becomes easy try using B, F, Z or Q.
More to come later.Back to the 21st Scouts Homepage
